Background:
Born in Shanghai to two accomplished surgeons, Mae-Len showed great interest in medicine. Her parents sent her to Neotokyo to visit her aunt; Dr Genai, in the hope that she would enroll at the NeoTokyo Medical Institute. 2 weeks into her trip, her parents were killed in the Great Shanghai Earthquake of 2087.
Dr Genai took Mae-Len in as she had no other family. Mae-Len soon gave up all hopes of entering the medical field. She soon began training with the other girls in Dr Genai's makeshift orphanage.
As the youngest member of the team, Mae-Len often feels that she is babied by the other pilots. Normally on the receiving end of Sachie's jokes, she is quiet & reserved. Shy by nature, Mae-Len is still a virgin & frowns upon the sexual promiscuity of the other girls. The least able pilot at M.A.D. she works twice as hard as the other girls.
